Execute – Results of the fourth module:
Implementing a sustainable transformation to achieve the goals

To implement change management, the results of all modules are consolidated. This systematic approach enables the goals of a transformation to be achieved in a sustainable manner. To this end, a fully integrated change architecture must be established during the EXECUTE phase.

The areas of action can be succinctly described by five concepts that should be implemented holistically. A missing element can jeopardize the overall success of a transformation. This also includes evaluating the performance and results of the transformation to further optimize change management.

  • SHOULD: Providing information and fostering dialogue regarding the goals and strategy, success factors, and core processes of the transformation are part of the initial phase of the transformation ( See also the ENGAGE module).
  • WANT: Building and strengthening belief in transformation depends particularly on changeability, which is constantly evolving ( See also the EXPLORE module).
  • KNOWLEDGE: The Mission Statement and the Master Story ( See also the ENVISION module) form the basis for communicating information tailored to specific target groups and assigning tasks to managers and employees.
  • SKILLS: The skills required to successfully implement the transformation are fundamental but rarely present. Therefore, appropriate long-term measures are an integral part of change management ( See also the ENGAGE module).
  • BE ABLE TO: Ultimately, managers and employees also need the freedom to act in order to implement the transformation. This involves more than just resources. Confidence in one’s own decisions within the framework of the transformation’s objectives and strategy is also crucial.

The milestones of the transformation—which are subject to change—are essential for the ongoing adaptation of change management. In the case of mergers, these include, for example, the “signing” (the signing of the contract) and the “closing” (the execution of the contract).

Similarly, changes in the changeability of managers and employees may necessitate adjustments. If there is a positive trend in the willingness and ability to change, the pace, nature, and scope of change management measures could be reduced. If changeability deteriorates, the effectiveness of the current program must be reviewed and activities adjusted accordingly.
